Hi All,
I can
not believe how fast the October Hunter Pace is coming! Jeff and I made a big change to the 10 mile course this spring. We
cut a new trail through the woods that eliminates the long road section! The new trail was a big hit at the August Hunter
Pace. It took me 5 years to find this trail and I am so happy that I finally did it! This is our 5th year too!! Wow that went
fast. It seems like just yesterday I was bushwacking my way around the woods getting lost that now has a huge network of Beautiful
trails and over 80 jumps! The fall colors will be Beautiful, the trails will be Awesome and the DAY will be FUN!
Please come out and enjoy the day.
Jeff and I have been
hard at work already this spring getting the trails ready! The trails were a mess this spring after a hard winter but I promise
that the trails will be perfect by pace day! We have big news for the 10 mile course. I am happy to report that I eliminated
the long road section from the 10 mile course! The 10 mile course will now stay in the woods instead of going down the road.
Jeff and I have made a very nice trail through the woods from the second set of 6 stonewalls that comes out above the parking
lot! It's a great trail and I really think everyone is going to LOVE the change! The only place anyone, on either the
5 or 10 mile courses, will be on the road will be at the beginning when you cross it to start and finish.
Thank You to everyone that came on Saturday October 4th!! It was a Beautiful
Day and we had 121 riders, 122 if you count Woody and Me, yes I rode my horse for a few hours! Woody and I had a blast
riding in the Hunter Pace! This was the first time that I rode my horse in my own Hunter Pace. I had so much fun riding
with everyone that I plan to do it again. I hope you had fun with me, let me know! The New 5 Mile Course is a HUGE HIT!! I
am so glad that I was finally able to make that change. It took a few years and a lot of work but we did it. The results are
posted on the results page and there are pictures on PICTURES 4. If you have pictures that you would like on the website
send them to me. I hope I see you all next year!! I will be offering trail rides until it snows or shot gun season starts
which ever comes first.
Thanks Again,
Jill
I say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to everyone that came out and rode on Saturday.
The weather started out horrible and you still came out!!! We had 66 people come out and ride!! That is a number
that makes it worth doing no matter what the weather does! I hope I see even more of you on October 4th.
The New 5 mile course is a big Hit!! It's a keeper!! Thank you for letting me know you liked
it!
BIG NEWS! We have made a NEW 5 Mile Course!! The New 5 Mile Course now includes
the Famous Pine Lane with 8 Stonewalls and many of the Beautiful woods trails on the 10 mile course!! The New course is almost
all in the woods and includes more than 47 jumps!! Jeff and I had to cut a few new trails to make it all work and we
really love it and think you will too!! I made the decision to move it so everyone can enjoy the beautiful trails and jumps
on the 10 mile course and be in the shade in August. I hope a lot of you come out and Ride both the New 5 mile course and
the 10 mile course and maybe a few of you will ride both courses!! Jeff and I have been working really hard getting everything ready
for you!! The trails are in GREAT SHAPE and so Beautiful!! I promise that it will all be marked very well so you won't get
lost! If you have any questions let me know.

The Hunter
Pace to Benefit the Tioughnoga Ruritan Club in DeRuyter, New York takes place at the Beautiful Staley Farm. If you love a
beautiful scenic trail ride this is the event for you. This year we will be having a Hunter Pace Championship Series.
There are 2 Hunter Paces in the Series. To be eligible for Championship Series Prizes the same team of riders must ride at
both Hunter Pace dates. You may ride at only one of the Hunter Pace dates, you will not be eligible for Championship Series
Prizes, but if you can only make one it's OK. We are also offering pre-entry for both of the paces at a discount.
Please see the Flyer Page and Enrty Form Page for all the details. Please note the earlier start time of 8 am for
the August pace. We are offering this in case the weather is hot that day and you want to beat the heat. Both
of the 5 mile and 10 mile courses offer a unique experience providing excitement and a challenge for riders
of all ability. Novice riders can enjoy the thrill of riding their horse on a variety of different terrain, while more
experienced riders can challenge themselves to clear all of the many fences that the pace offers. The choice is yours,
that is the beauty of a pace, you ride at the pace YOU want to go. Regardless of your competitive nature, the breathtaking
scenery and incredible venue make this an event you won't want to miss. You may
ride English or Western. Attire is casual but all riders must wear an ASTM Hard Hat with Harness and riding boots or shoes
(something with a heel).
The Tioughnioga Ruritan is a member of the National Ruritan, a nonprofit organization.
Each Ruritan Club surveys the needs of its community and then works to meet those needs. Here is a snap shot of the Tioughnioga
Ruritan Club's service to the comminity, monthy blood drives, highway clean up, emergency victim A$$I$TANCE, scholarships
to local students, support of the local food bank, and hanging of flags and Christmas lights. They helped put in a
sidewalk to the local store, and put up speakers and lights at the local fairgrounds. They also help out at the Madison
County Childrens Camp with both donations and maintenance of one of the cabins, and many more projects.
Thanks to the huge success of the Hunter Paces The Ruritan has been able to add many new projects to our already long list
of projects. The Club was able to donate money to the music department to buy more instruments for kids in need. We also made
a donation to the school for playground equipment to replace unsafe equipment. We have also purchased $2000 worth of
food gift certificates for families in need. The Tioughnioga Ruritan has 2 other fund raisers each year, a Car Show in
June and an Auction in July, please click on the Other Club Events and Car Show pages on the left of the screen
for more information.
This is a great organization so please come ride
a spectacular Hunter Pace. The Hunter Pace courses run through beautiful hunt country. The trails are very nice and the footing
is GREAT rain or shine. There is a nice mixture of woods, fields, hills, roads, and water crossings. We have built over
70 natural hunt jumps. Jumps incude stonewalls, post and rails, coops, and logs. We are building more
jumps this year. Jumps range is size from 2' to 3' and all jumps are optional. There are spectacular
veiws from many places on the courses and from the parking area. The parking is at the Beautiful Staley Farm in nice level
hay fields. The optimum time will be set by Hunter Pace Chairman Jill Higgins. I have 13 years of fox hunting
experience and I have a lot of experience running Hunter Paces. The courses will be very well marked for
a fun, entertaining, and easy to navigate ride. Riders in the Field Hunters Pace must ride both the 5 mile and 10
mile courses from start to finish. The Hunter Paces will run RAIN OR SHINE. Please note that Teams may be composed of 1
or 2 riders. Teams with more thn 2 riders will only be awared 2 prizes.
I must extend a Big Thank You to the Staley Family and all the landowners for the use
of their land. Without landowners like these, events like this can not happen. Please respect the landowners and only
ride on the marked courses the days of the paces only. Do not come back and ride on your own. Keep
checking back as I will continue updating this website. As always if you have any questions call e-mail me.
